[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, on the 28th, finalized the selection of design competition works for the Jukjeon District and Sangdong District Urban Regeneration Harmony Centers, promoted as part of the Urban Regeneration New Deal project.

As a result of receiving design competition entries for the Urban Regeneration Harmony Centers, the county received a total of 15 works: 8 from the Jukjeon District and 7 from the Sangdong District.

The judging committee, composed of public architects, university professors, and architects, selected 5 works per project district through the first round of judging. On the 26th, the second round of judging was conducted, including presentations by the competing firms for each work, Q&A sessions, and discussions among the judges, leading to the final selection.

This public architecture design competition judging process disclosed all evaluation reasons and scoring details of the judges, enhancing transparency and fairness in the evaluation.

The Jukjeon Mandang Urban Regeneration Harmony Center will be constructed with a total investment of 2.6 billion KRW, consisting of four floors above ground.

The first floor will include a Forest Gol Cafe and a small library; the second floor will have a joint childcare play experience room; the third floor will be dedicated to senior classrooms and senior health promotion and management; and the fourth floor will house a senior citizens' center. The project was praised for its appropriate spatial planning within an irregular site, excellent arrangement of the Forest Gol Park, and courtyard expression.

The construction of the Jukjeon Mandang Urban Regeneration Harmony Center and the Sangdong Areumdri Forest Gol Harmony Center will begin with the selection of the winning design competition works, complete the detailed design service by August, start construction thereafter, and aim for completion in October 2023.
