[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Simmons announced on the 28th that it has donated household goods worth 40 million KRW to Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
The day before, a donation ceremony was held at Icheon City Hall attended by Kim Young-hoon, Vice President of Simmons Beds, and Eom Tae-jun, Mayor of Icheon. The donated items will be delivered to vulnerable groups in Icheon who are experiencing psychological and economic difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Since September 2018, Simmons has donated practical household items such as TVs, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, and microwaves to the Icheon community every holiday season. Including this Lunar New Year, Simmons has supported Icheon with household goods worth over 300 million KRW through a total of eight donations. Icheon is home to Simmons' production factory and research and development center, 'Simmons Factoreum,' as well as the complex cultural space 'Simmons Terrace.'
Kim Young-hoon, Vice President of Simmons Beds, said, “As we face the holiday season amid the difficult and exhausting situation caused by COVID-19, I believed that practicing warmth and sharing is more necessary than ever. As a member and neighbor of the Icheon community, we will strive even harder to engage with the local society.” Eom Tae-jun, Mayor of Icheon, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We deeply appreciate Simmons' consistent support every year. Thanks to Simmons, we will be able to spend a warm Lunar New Year.”
