[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] SK Plasma announced on the 28th that it has signed an export contract worth a total of 38.4 billion KRW with Cairi, a pharmaceutical sales company based in South America.

Under this contract, Cairi will have the supply rights for blood products such as albumin and LivGamma to eight countries: Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Guatemala, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay. The two companies plan to jointly proceed with the necessary approval procedures for delivery to each country and aim to start full-scale supply in about two years.

This is SK Plasma's second successful export contract for finished blood products this year, following a contract signed with the Middle East region on the 6th. Based on this achievement, SK Plasma plans to develop the South American market as a major export region. Kim Yoon-ho, CEO of SK Plasma, said, “Most countries in South America do not have their own infrastructure for developing and manufacturing blood products, and we estimate the blood product market to be worth about 1.5 trillion KRW annually. Based on the quality of SK Plasma, proven through finished product exports, we will strive to create additional opportunities such as contract manufacturing (CMO) and plant technology exports.”

Meanwhile, SK Plasma was selected last October as the contractor to supply the entire national project for blood products in Singapore for six years through a national bid. It is currently exporting finished products such as albumin to more than 20 countries in the Middle East, Asia, and South America. In 2020, SK Plasma also achieved the milestone of being the first domestic company to export blood products to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
