[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, and Ahn Cheol-soo, presidential candidate of the People Party, have been engaged in a daily power struggle over the unification of opposition candidates. When Lee said, "I dislike Ahn Cheol-soo who insists on unification," the People Party countered by calling it "inferiority complex."

On the 27th, Shin Na-ri, deputy spokesperson of the People Party's election committee, issued a statement saying, "Lee Jun-seok's hate politics, driven by his inferiority complex toward candidate Ahn, is lowering the quality of South Korean politics," and criticized, "Now he is recklessly making uncontrollable remarks, simply saying 'I just dislike Ahn Cheol-soo.'

She continued, "It is truly regrettable that Lee, a leader lacking competence who only adds to the public's fatigue, is the one constantly thinking about candidate Ahn, obsessively clinging to unification, and tormenting the eyes and ears of the entire nation every day."

She added, "The whole nation knows well about Lee's inferiority complex toward candidate Ahn," and said, "Putting aside policies and visions, Lee, who is obsessed with his inferiority complex and recklessly disparages the opposing presidential candidate, should stop mentioning candidate Ahn, focus on resolving the suspicions surrounding himself, and proceed with resignation."

Earlier, on the 26th, when a CBS radio host asked Lee, "Why are you clashing so strongly with candidate Ahn? Is it because you dislike unification, or just dislike candidate Ahn?" he replied, "I dislike Ahn Cheol-soo who insists on unification."

He criticized, "While Ahn has been in politics, there have been lane changes on our side that we were unaware of. Meanwhile, he doesn't want to merge with the conservative side or participate in primaries, but he keeps trying to interfere in the election from our side, and this pattern of suddenly appearing to say 'Let's unify' has continued. I really dislike that behavior."

He also said, "Ahn may think he has gone through a difficult path, but since he wants to get votes from conservative parties, he should try to compete internally within the mainstream of conservatism at least once, but he doesn't do that."

Lee added, "What is the message now? It's something like, 'There is no unification, but unification with Ahn (Ahn-ilhwa) is possible' because his votes must not be shaken," and said, "I hope they stop bothering the public." He continued, "It's not a family risk, but he himself has a very big risk. He lacks content," and concluded, "I wish him good luck."
