[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] Actor Lee Gyu-han (42), who was involved in a dispute over assaulting a driver, has been cleared of charges by the prosecution.

According to the legal community on the 27th, the Criminal Division 5 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Park Gyu-hyung) dismissed the charges against Lee, who was accused of assaulting a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, due to insufficient evidence the day before.

In August 2020, Lee was traveling by car with companions in a certain area of Gangnam, Seoul, while intoxicated, when a dispute arose with the driver. The driver claimed to have been assaulted by Lee and filed a petition requesting an investigation at the Gangnam Police Station.

The Gangnam Police Station, which investigated the case, sent Lee to the prosecution in November last year.

At that time, Lee posted on his social media service (SNS) stating, "I did not commit any assault or verbal abuse, risking my life," and also reported suffering from panic disorder.

In fact, his panic disorder symptoms worsened, leading him to withdraw from the JTBC drama 'Green Mothers' Club' and SBS's 'Again My Life,' in which he was scheduled to appear.

It is known that Lee's side is preparing legal action, including filing a false accusation charge against the driver who requested the investigation on assault charges.
