Let's Make a Safe Holiday... Gyeongnam Office of Education Strives for 0% Safety Accidents During the Holiday Gyeongnam Office of Education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education is implementing the ‘Seol Holiday Safety Accident Prevention and Management Measures’ hoping that the holiday will be safe and enjoyable.

The safety management measures consist of safety accident prevention guidance by risk type, pre-inspection of vulnerable facilities and strengthening fire preparedness, establishment of a rapid response system, and close cooperation with related organizations.

Prior safety education will be conducted using the website and Short Message Service (SMS) regarding outdoor activities such as walking on icy roads, food poisoning, infectious diseases, and traffic safety. Pre-inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities such as construction sites, retaining walls, and retaining wall structures, as well as inspections of firefighting facilities and equipment, will be carried out.

To prepare for emergencies, an emergency contact network will be organized and shared, and all institutions and schools have been requested to strengthen cooperation systems with related organizations.

From January to February, customized comprehensive safety diagnosis consulting will be conducted by visiting 20 schools in the province to check the safety of each school.

The consulting covers overall school safety education, including inspections in the fields of architecture, firefighting, and electricity, analysis of safety accident occurrence types, and explanations of systems related to insurance benefit claims.

The inspection team consists of private experts recommended by the Korea Fire Technology Society, employees of the School Safety Mutual Aid Association, education support office staff, and a safety education consulting support group.

They will present safety management plans for school sites, encourage strengthening safety management, and provide a total of 50 million KRW to 20 schools to improve insufficient areas based on inspection results. If risks are deemed present, detailed investigations and related budget securing measures will be taken.

Heo Jaeyoung, Director of Safety General Affairs, said, “In addition to safety inspections and prevention reinforcement in preparation for the holiday season, there will be comprehensive guidance and inspections on safety areas that schools usually find difficult.” He added, “We will do our best to build a safe school environment and prevent safety accidents.”
