[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 27th, the Ministry of Unification expressed "strong regret and concern" over North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile suspected projectile.

An official from the Ministry of Unification stated, "As announced through the National Security Council (NSC) emergency meeting regarding North Korea's recent consecutive missile launches, we have strong regret and concern."

He continued, "We repeatedly urge North Korea to stop missile launches that turn back the clock on the Korean Peninsula to a past of tension and conflict and to come forward for dialogue aimed at a future of peace," adding, "We will continue efforts to maintain the situation on the Korean Peninsula peacefully and stably."

Regarding the government's expression of "regret" only despite North Korea's successive missile launches, the official responded, "The Ministry of Unification is the department responsible for inter-Korean policy," and added, "We judge that it is appropriate to assess and respond to North Korea's missile launches not from a military perspective but from the perspective of their impact on inter-Korean relations and other aspects."
