[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province is implementing a ‘Comprehensive Plan for the Lunar New Year Holiday’ to ensure a safe and comfortable holiday.
The city announced on the 27th that it will operate a comprehensive situation room during the holiday from the 29th of this month to the 2nd of next month, focusing on citizen safety and actively responding in emergencies.
In addition, the city plans to supplement and strengthen COVID-19 quarantine measures tailored for the Lunar New Year and maintain a rapid response system in case of emergencies to minimize citizen inconvenience.
As part of this comprehensive plan, seven task forces closely related to citizens’ lives will be organized, including the comprehensive situation team, medical and quarantine, disaster and accident, prices, traffic, living environment, and water and sewage sectors.
In particular, a quarantine task force will be operated to block the spread of COVID-19 and ensure rapid response, maintaining a 24-hour emergency work system including a COVID-19 hotline, screening clinics, and epidemiological investigations.
An emergency medical system will also be established, including emergency medical institutions and holiday duty pharmacies, to prevent gaps in patient care during the holiday period.
Medical institutions and pharmacies available during the holiday can be inquired about at the Jeongeup City Hall duty office and the public health center, and can also be checked on the city hall website.
Additionally, the columbarium at the Southwest Memorial Park will limit simultaneous visitors to 50 people and assign guides to strengthen disinfection of entrants.
Furthermore, compliance with quarantine rules at high-risk and medium-risk facilities such as religious facilities, karaoke rooms, PC rooms, entertainment bars, and restaurants will be periodically inspected.
To prevent various disasters and accidents, prior safety inspections of multi-use facilities will be conducted, and the disaster comprehensive situation room will operate 24 hours to respond quickly in emergencies.
The city plans to establish a special quarantine posture to block infectious diseases such as AI, African swine fever, and foot-and-mouth disease.
To stabilize prices, the city will frequently monitor price trends of essential goods and guide and crack down on unfair trade practices such as origin labeling to establish a sound distribution order.
To minimize citizens’ traffic inconvenience, traffic guidance and enforcement officers will be specially deployed at habitual congestion points and bottlenecks such as Jeongeup Station, the terminal, and Saemgoul Market, and 51 public parking lots will be opened free of charge during the holiday to alleviate parking difficulties.
Moreover, the city will ensure the smooth payment of the Jeongeup City 3rd Disaster Basic Income support fund to stabilize citizens’ lives and revitalize the depressed local economy.
A city official said, “We will do our best to ensure COVID-19 quarantine and livelihood stability so that citizens can have a safe and prosperous Lunar New Year holiday,” and added, “We ask citizens to strictly follow quarantine rules for the safety of their families and neighbors.”
