Gwangju Seo-gu, Warm Hands Continue at Collapse Accident Rescue Site

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Warm gestures of support from various organizations, groups, and citizens continue to pour in at the site of the recent collapse accident at the Hyundai Development Company apartment construction site in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

According to Seo-gu on the 27th, various relief supplies such as bottled water and ramen are being received from nearby department stores, religious organizations, financial institutions, restaurants, and even the local residents' autonomous committee near the accident site.

In particular, on the 25th, elementary school children in Seo-gu delivered a box along with handwritten letters carefully written with their small hands.

Inside the box were letters expressing hopes that the victims would return to the warm embrace of their families as soon as possible, along with gratitude for the hard work of firefighters and other personnel involved in the rescue operations, as well as delicious cookies that touched the hearts of those who saw them.

The children behind this gesture were Jang Yeon-hee, a 4th grader, and Jeong Ye-eun, a 6th grader at Geungnak Elementary School. They personally packed the box containing cookies with the help of their teachers and friends through a program operated by the Gwangcheon Youth Culture House, and delivered the handwritten letters directly to the accident response headquarters.

A representative of the Seo-gu accident response headquarters said, “Receiving these heartfelt consolation gifts from the children made us feel the spirit of Gwangju once again. We express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us, and we hope that this energy will help the situation be resolved smoothly so that the victims can return to their families as soon as possible.”
