Hwasun-gun Recruiting Participants for the 'Nutrition Plus Project'

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] On the 27th, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it is recruiting "new beneficiaries for the Nutrition Plus Project," which supports healthy eating habits for pregnant women and infants.

Nutrition Plus is a project that provides nutrition education and supplementary food for a certain period to improve nutritional risk factors for pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding mothers, and infants.

The eligibility criteria include pregnant women, postpartum and breastfeeding mothers, and infants under the age of 6 residing in the area. The income criterion is below 80% of the median income, and applicants must have at least one nutritional risk factor such as anemia, underweight, or poor nutritional status to be selected.

Selected beneficiaries will receive supplementary foods such as formula milk, rice, black beans, potatoes, and eggs delivered to their homes twice a month for a minimum of 6 months up to a maximum of 1 year.

In response to the COVID-19 situation, nutrition education and counseling are also provided through Naver Band, phone calls, and mailing of nutrition newsletters.

During the participation period, nutritional status improvement is checked through three evaluations.

Applications must first be registered on the waiting list by phone.

After registration, applicants must submit required documents such as a resident registration certificate, health insurance card or health insurance payment statement, and pregnancy or childbirth proof documents to the Hwasun-gun Public Health Center according to the instructions.

The final selection results will be notified individually.

A public health center official said, "According to the satisfaction survey conducted after the project ended last year, 93.64% of participants were satisfied," and added, "We will continue to do our best to promote the health of nutritionally vulnerable pregnant women and infants."
