Kellogg's Raises Prices on 26 Cereal Varieties
Frosted Flakes Up to 300 KRW Increase... 6,280 KRW → 6,580 KRW
"Due to Rising Raw Material Costs and Increased Logistics Expenses"
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Nongshim Kellogg announced on the 27th that it will raise the prices of some cereals starting next month.
'Kellogg's Corn Flakes' will be adjusted from 3,000 won to 3,200 won at convenience stores, and 'Kellogg's Granola Cranberry' from 5,500 won to 5,800 won. At large supermarkets, 26 products will see an average price increase of 6.7%. Kellogg's Corn Flakes (600g) will rise from 6,280 won to 6,580 won, and 'Kellogg's Chex Choco (570g)' will increase from 7,080 won to 7,480 won. The price increase will start at convenience stores from the 1st of next month, and the timing for large supermarkets is expected to be decided around the 10th.
A Nongshim Kellogg representative said, "Consumer prices are determined by distributors, and product prices and discount rates vary depending on the distributor and channel," adding, "Nongshim Kellogg will do its best to provide products that satisfy consumers."
Meanwhile, Dongseo Food also raised the prices of 24 products, including 'Post Almond Flake' and 'Post Corn Flake,' by an average of 9.8% on the 14th. The industry analyzes that such price increases in cereal products are due to the rise in raw material prices of corn grits, the main ingredient, and increased logistics costs.
