Gochang-gun Accelerates 'Future Core Projects' with 282.7 Billion Won Investment

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is accelerating the promotion of future core projects centered around Gochang-eup by investing 282.7 billion KRW.

The county announced on the 27th that it will create a tourist destination where visitors can experience culture and ecology around the dolmen World Heritage site.

They plan to establish a dolmen ecological park where biodiversity can be experienced and studied, and through an adventure creation project that stimulates children's imagination and curiosity, they aim to attract family tourists.

To develop a natural ecological tourist site that links the dolmen heritage with tourism resources and World Cultural Heritage assets, a millennium forest co-created with residents will be established on the site in front of the Dolmen Museum.

Plans are also underway to enhance residents' cultural literacy through the construction of the Gochang County Art Museum.

Gochang-eup Fortress, a representative tourist site of Gochang-eup, will be transformed into an experiential and stay-type tourist destination themed around Pansori by creating a Pansori master street blending history and culture, folk game experience facilities, and traditional Korean-style lodging.

The Gochang-eup Urban Ecological Axis Restoration Project and the Yeongsan Ridge Yanggosaljae Ecological Axis Restoration Project, which connect fragmented ecological axes, will preserve biodiversity in the forest areas around Bangjangsan and Yanggosaljae.

Morobiri Park, a children's ecological experience space (in Seokgyo-ri, Gochang-eup), and the Munsusan Hinoki Forest Healing Center will also be established to provide residents with pleasant green spaces.

To revitalize the city together with residents, support will be provided for the Old Downtown Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and the Moyangseong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, and plans are underway to promote the Gochang Deoksan District Urban Development Project to establish a solid residential environment.

For residents' health, welfare, and wholesome leisure activities, Gochang Sports Town is being developed, along with the construction of dedicated table tennis and badminton courts and a 72-hole park golf course.

The Dalbit Noeul Yanggosaljae Development Project, which will include a cafe & restaurant and a children's golf experience center, is also planned.

Additionally, the complex cultural library designed by architect Yoo Hyunjoon is scheduled for completion next year to support residents' cultural leisure.

The Gochang-eup Office, which supports residents' administrative welfare, is set to be completed this year as the Gochang-eup Family Happiness Support Center, offering one-stop administrative, cultural, and welfare services.

A county official stated, “We will successfully lead the core projects of Gochang-eup to create a stepping stone for becoming the nation's top ecological, healing, and tourism city.”
