[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 27th, the People Power Party argued that a special prosecutor should be introduced not only for the preferential development allegations related to Daejang-dong in Seongnam City but also for the suspicions involving Doosan Group and Seongnam FC. According to some reports, six companies including Doosan Construction filed petitions with Seongnam City regarding zoning changes and building permits, and it was also confirmed that each company paid advertising fees to Seongnam FC.

Floor leader Kim Ki-hyun said at the meeting, "The Seongnam FC sponsorship fund suspicion case is showing signs of becoming a symbol of privilege and unfairness, strongly smelling of collusion between Lee Jae-myung and conglomerates," urging an investigation through a special prosecutor including the Daejang-dong, Baekhyeon-dong, and conglomerate suspicion cases.

Kim said, "Is Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party candidate, the mastermind behind the conglomerate preferential treatment suspicion, or will another Yoo Dong-gyu (former Planning Director of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation) appear as a second shield?" He added, "If not, are the prosecution and police, who thoroughly hide the corruption suspicions, planning to persistently feign ignorance?" He continued, "Having also worked in local administration, I have never seen such absurd preferential treatment given to conglomerates," and added, "They are trying to deceive the public by playing word games, saying the deputy prosecutor's resignation was a difference in opinion rather than ignoring the proposal."

Kim also said, "The Seongnam District Prosecutor's Office chief's dismissal of a legitimate investigation also requires a proper investigation by a special prosecutor," and stated, "Those who refuse a special prosecutor are the culprits."

Kwon Young-se, head of the People Power Party Central Election Committee, also said at the meeting, "There are concerns that the prosecutor who requested a reinvestigation of Seongnam FC resigned abruptly and that personal protection measures may be necessary," pointing out, "From candidate Lee's standpoint, thorough verification must have been frightening."
