Official Sponsorship Agreement Between Korea Sports Council and Convenience Food Sector
Plans to Conduct Various Sponsorship and Support Activities Until 2024
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] CJ CheilJedang has stepped up to sponsor the South Korean national team participating in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 27th that it signed an official sponsorship contract with the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee in the convenience food category and delivered CJ CheilJedang's home meal replacement (HMR) products to the Jincheon National Training Center for the 'Team Korea' athletes competing in the Olympics.
The products delivered this time include Hetbahn, Hetbahn Sotban, Bibigo soup dishes, Bibigo porridge, Bibigo kimchi, gochujang, and gim (seaweed). Anticipating that on-site meal support may not be smooth due to COVID-19, the products were selected to allow national team athletes to enjoy Korean food during the competition period.
CJ CheilJedang has supported the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee as an official partner during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, providing safe food for athletes. Through this contract, the company promises sponsorship through the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games and the 2024 Paris Olympics, aiming to become a reliable partner for the national team.
A CJ CheilJedang representative said, “It is very meaningful to support various foods with the hopes and cheers of the public wishing for the success of the South Korean national team,” adding, “We will actively assist the athletes to perform at their best condition and deliver top performance.”
Since 2010, CJ CheilJedang has consistently sponsored winter sports athletes and associations in less popular sports such as freestyle mogul skiing, skeleton, and snowboarding to promote and develop these sports. Currently, the company continues to support athletes in Olympic sports such as swimming, breaking, and tennis.
