On the 26th, Chairman Yoon allocated reward money for individual event medalists at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics: 100 million KRW for gold medals, 50 million KRW for silver medals, and 30 million KRW for bronze medals. He also stated that rewards will be given to medalists in team events (short track relay, speed skating team pursuit).
Four years ago at Pyeongchang, individual event medalists received 50 million KRW for gold, 20 million KRW for silver, and 10 million KRW for bronze. This time, the reward amounts have more than doubled.
Coaches of the national team will also receive rewards according to the medals won. Chairman Yoon added that a certain amount of encouragement money will be given to support staff and athletes who participated in the Olympics but did not win medals.
Chairman Yoon has been appointed as the head of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics delegation and will represent and support the Korean athletes throughout the Olympic period.
