[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is causing a prolonged stir in the political sphere after allegations surfaced that he asked a famous fortune teller in the past questions such as "Can I become Prosecutor General?" and "Will former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk become president?" In response, former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae criticized Yoon, saying that he had been dreaming of becoming president since 2019 and that the investigation into former Minister Cho Kuk was close to a rebellion.

On the 27th, former Minister Choo posted on her Facebook under the title "Was it a rebellion?" stating, "The real reason for refusing the search and seizure has been revealed," and added, "According to reports, a fortune teller said that when Kim Geon-hee (Yoon's spouse) called in August 2019, he advised her to 'get close to Minister Cho Kuk.' Then Yoon Seok-yeol asked, 'Will Cho Kuk become president?' If so, since he had been dreaming of the presidency from that time, I consider the trap investigation against Cho Kuk to be close to a rebellion."

Former Minister Choo also said, "Furthermore, considering that in February 2020, Geonjin Beopsa advised, 'If you want to be president, handle the medium (Lee Man-hee, the founder of Shincheonji) gently,' the intention was blatant. It's dizzying."

Regarding Yoon's refusal of the search and seizure of the Shincheonji Church at that time, she said, "Yoon and the People Power Party have repeated like parrots both then and now the logic that if a search warrant for Shincheonji is issued, the followers will hide, making quarantine more difficult." She pointed out, "However, it is known that Shincheonji's missionary work also involves infiltrating established churches and contacting their members. Securing the list of followers was a priority and essential to prevent the spread of infectious diseases."

Former Minister Choo continued, "The problem was not that they hid because of the search and seizure, but that they originally infiltrated to proselytize, which made quarantine more serious. Also, even if the list was seized for quarantine purposes, it was not an arrest warrant for individuals, so personal information would not be disclosed outside the quarantine authorities. Their claims are neither factually nor legally correct," she criticized.

Meanwhile, according to a JTBC report on the 26th, a famous fortune teller named Seo claimed that he first met Kim in early 2019 while teaching the I Ching in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, and at Kim's request, he met Yoon, who was then the Seoul Central District Prosecutor General, on February 17 of the same year.

Seo believed that Yoon already had presidential ambitions while serving as Prosecutor General. He said, "(After the meeting, Kim called me, and) I overheard her saying, 'So, will Cho Kuk become president?' That husband told her to ask that."
