[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] IS Dongseo donated 100 million KRW to Nam-gu, Busan as part of its ESG management practice.
IS Dongseo, a comprehensive company in construction, environment, and manufacturing, announced on the 26th that it has delivered donations to Nam-gu Office for three consecutive years to support low-income and near-poverty-level students.
On the morning of the day, a donation ceremony was held at Nam-gu Office in Busan with Park Jae-beom, head of Nam-gu Office, IS Dongseo CEO Heo Seok-heon, and other related personnel in attendance.
The donation will be used for educational support projects for low-income and vulnerable students who have been left in welfare blind spots due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, IS Dongseo urgently supported about 300 prepaid cards worth 30 million KRW after hearing about the occurrence of children missing meals due to the suspension of meals at welfare facilities such as local children's centers caused by COVID-19.
In addition, in consultation with local community centers in Nam-gu, they provided 120 million KRW to meal facilities and local children in need of support.
Furthermore, they have been leading various support projects proactively to overcome difficulties together with the Busan local community.
In the first year of the COVID-19 outbreak, to help self-employed people facing difficulties, they reduced 50% of the three-month rent for the W Square commercial building in Yongho-dong, which they own, easing a burden of about 550 million KRW.
This became the starting point of the campaign that implemented the Good Rent Movement nationwide for the first time.
They also helped the local community suffering from COVID-19 by delivering 10,000 KF94 masks to Busan City and providing quarantine and emergency relief supplies worth about 50 million KRW to major traditional markets and merchant associations in Jung-gu, Nam-gu, and Haeundae-gu in Busan.
At the end of last year, through Busan Community Chest of Korea, with which they have had a 15-year relationship, they delivered donations to help neighbors, continuously practicing support for marginalized neighbors in the Busan area.
IS Dongseo CEO Heo Seok-heon said, “The helping hand must continue to reach vulnerable children,” and added, “We will actively carry out social contribution activities so that warm hands can reach places in need.”
IS Dongseo is actively practicing ESG management through eco-friendly construction, environmental business via recycling, and social contribution activities.
Chairman Kwon Hyuk-woon donated 14 billion KRW of personal funds to establish the Munam Scholarship and Cultural Foundation. The foundation, along with affiliates, carries out social contribution activities for a sustainable future.
They have implemented various support projects for children, youth, and marginalized groups, including scholarship delivery, support for children missing meals, talent development support projects, educational environment improvement projects, support projects for abused children, and prevention and support projects for child victims of crime, with more than 40 billion KRW in sharing activities to date.
For contributing to regional development and leading sustainable management and innovative growth of the company along with social responsibility through win-win cooperation, Chairman Kwon received the highest honor, the Gold Tower Industrial Medal, alone at the ‘2021 Housing Construction Day’ commemorative event last December for his contributions to national industrial development.
