[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Yoo Ui-dong has been nominated as the new Policy Committee Chairperson of the People Power Party. Yoo is a three-term lawmaker classified as part of the so-called 'Yoo Seung-min faction.'

According to the People Power Party on the 26th, the approval process for the Policy Committee Chairperson will proceed through a party caucus meeting on the 27th. According to the party constitution and regulations, the Policy Committee Chairperson is nominated by the party leader in consultation with the floor leader and approved by the party caucus.

Previously, on the 13th, lawmaker Kim Do-eup resigned from the Policy Committee Chairperson position, taking responsibility as part of the leadership amid internal party turmoil.
