Jeonju City, 2022 Low-rise Residential Area Alleyway Maintenance Project Applications Open

Renovation of Alleyways in Low-Rise Residential Areas with Dense Old Housing

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 26th that it is accepting applications for the '2022 Low-rise Residential Area Alleyway Improvement Project' target sites.

The project aims to enhance the value of alleyways by improving the residential environment that reflects local identity, while creating neighborhoods where people want to stay. Applications will be accepted at 35 district community centers until the 28th of next month.

Jeonju City plans to select one site in Deokjin-gu and one site in Wansan-gu as project targets after on-site inspections among the applicants.

In the selected alleyways, various projects will be promoted, including △ demolition and reconstruction of old fences and gates in densely populated old low-rise residential areas △ improvement of old sewage pipes △ concrete block pavement △ installation of security CCTV △ installation of streetlights and landscaping facilities.

Up to 400 million KRW in project funds will be invested in each selected area.

Jeonju City plans to hold resident briefing sessions to promote the effects and implementation plans of the alleyway improvement project to local residents, and to begin construction of the alleyway improvement project from the second half of this year.

Jeonju City expects that through alleyway improvements, the physical environment will be enhanced, transforming the neighborhoods into safe and pleasant places, and that even after the project, the areas will be maintained and managed through residents' participation and interest, establishing them as places where local residents can gather.
