[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] PHC announced on the 26th that it has signed a supply contract worth 2.9 billion KRW for COVID-19 specimen collection kits (Universal Transport Media).
The company explained that it will supply to the United States through H&Dream, a medical device distribution specialist company, and CareCamp, a subsidiary of GeoYoung, the largest pharmaceutical distributor in Korea. The supply period is until March 29.
Recently, the average daily number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the United States has been about 690,000. Since the number of deaths is still increasing, a company official expressed high expectations for the significance of the supply contract.
A PHC official said, "Due to the recent spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the United States and the increased demand for testing, some of the export contracts that were inevitably suspended in August last year due to market conditions have been able to resume." He added, "With the recent spread of the Omicron variant, the global demand for specimen collection kits is increasing," and "It is expected that follow-up supply contracts will continue to be made."
