[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] About 100 members of the Democratic Party in the Ulsan region have left the Democratic Party and declared their entry into the People Power Party.
On the 26th, about 30 former Democratic Party officials and members, including Ulsan Ulju-gun Councilor Heo Eun-nyeong, held a press conference in front of the Ulsan City Council building and stated, "For the future of Ulsan, we are leaving the Democratic Party and will support the People Power Party candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's administration."
The press conference was attended by Councilor Heo, former Democratic Party Ulju-gun Youth Chairman Shim Gyu-hwan, former Democratic Party Ulsan City Party Culture and Arts Special Committee Chairman Park Jun-seop, former Democratic Party Ulju-gun Women's Chairman Park Mu-hee, former Democratic Party Ulju-gun University Student Chairman Jeong Myeong-ju, and former head of the Ulsan Women's Workforce Center Kim Ok-ran.
Councilor Heo expressed grievance, saying, "While serving as a councilor, I have devoted myself to fulfilling the role of a representative body for the residents with the sole determination to represent public opinion. However, I was unfairly expelled, which even a cow would laugh at, after demanding the submission of budget review materials and conducting administrative audits in opposition to the unilateral and secretive administration of Ulju-gun Governor Lee Seon-ho."
Former Chairman Shim said, "I have devoted myself to the party as a proportional representative candidate for Ulju-gun in the June 13 local elections and as the Ulju-gun Youth Chairman of the Democratic Party, but I decided to leave the Democratic Party in disappointment after witnessing not only members who risked their lives to work together but also the party elders who have protected the party being abandoned due to internal 'factionalism' and 'intra-party attacks and betrayals.'"
They stated, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung is a candidate who cannot be trusted at all. His lies and double standards depending on convenience are unprecedented. We cannot just watch the behavior of the Democratic Party Ulsan City Party, which shows no signs or will of change anymore, and we are leaving the incompetent and corrupt Democratic Party to join the People Power Party for its administration."
They added, "About 100 former Democratic Party officials and members are expected to leave the Democratic Party and join the People Power Party."
