[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance announced on the 26th that it will begin selling crop disaster insurance for 2022.
The first eligible crops are four types of fruit trees: apples, pears, sweet persimmons, and astringent persimmons. Enrollment is open from the 26th of this month until March 4th.
Farmers who enroll in the crop disaster insurance for these four fruit tree types can receive coverage for various disasters including typhoons, hail, earthquakes, fires, as well as frost damage (damage caused by cold and frost resulting in snowflake-like damage) and sunburn damage (damage caused by sunlight). Additionally, farmers can choose which disasters to cover according to their needs when enrolling.
This year, a total of 67 types of crops are eligible for crop disaster insurance. Detailed information about the products can be obtained through nearby Nonghyup branches or NH Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance, and enrollment is available through local agricultural cooperatives and crop-specific cooperatives.
A representative from Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance stated, “Enrollment in crop disaster insurance is essential for farmers to prepare for frequent natural disasters such as typhoons and abnormal low temperatures,” and emphasized, “Nonghyup Property & Casualty Insurance will do its best to help more farmers prepare for disaster risks through crop disaster insurance.”
