[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Heungkuk Life Insurance announced on the 26th that it has commercialized an artificial intelligence document recognition (AI OCR) system for automating insurance claim processing.
This system applies Textscope™ solution from Romin, a leading company in AI OCR technology.
AI OCR is a system that automates the entire insurance claim reception process using AI.
The AI automatically classifies insurance claim documents received from customers into categories such as invoices, medical certificates, and prescriptions, and automates data extraction for insurance payment through text recognition.
Test results showed a 98% success rate in document classification and a 97% recognition rate in text extraction by item.
In particular, the company emphasized that, for the first time in the industry, AI OCR can process diagnostic-related documents such as medical certificates, prescriptions, and admission/discharge confirmation letters, allowing staff to focus more on insurance claim review tasks and thereby maximizing work efficiency.
This is described as the first case expanding the scope of AI OCR, which previously only supported document classification and text extraction from receipts, to include diagnostic documents.
Cho Heungdong, Head of Insurance Claim Review at Heungkuk Life Insurance, said, “Through this system, staff can focus more on their core review tasks, and the time to process insurance payments can be shortened, enhancing customer convenience. We will continue various efforts to strengthen our digital competitiveness.”
