[Asia Economy Military Specialist Yang Nak-gyu] Soldiers of the Army Special Warfare Command (hereinafter Special Warfare Command), the elite special forces of the Army, are honing their tactics through high-intensity cold-weather special training on snowy mountains over 1400m above sea level in Gangwon Province. The Special Warfare Command is conducting cold-weather survival training at the winter training grounds around Hwangbyeongsan Mountain in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon Province, from this month until March, by unit.

The Special Warfare Command's cold-weather survival training is a high-intensity special training conducted annually during the coldest period of January to February, lasting 9 nights and 10 days per unit in the rugged mountainous terrain of Daegwallyeong. The perceived temperature at the training site around Hwangbyeongsan Mountain drops below minus 20 degrees Celsius, making strong physical endurance and mental toughness essential. Currently, soldiers of the Invincible Typhoon Battalion, the protection unit of the Special Warfare Command, have been participating in training such as infiltration, concealment, special combat martial arts, special reconnaissance, aerial firepower guidance, and long-distance marches at the Hwangbyeongsan winter training ground since the 20th.

One of the representative courses of the cold-weather survival training is tactical skiing training, where Special Warfare Command soldiers, armed with military gear weighing over 30kg, personal firearms, and advanced equipment, maneuver and operate on skis.
