Creating 1000+ Jobs This Year ... Busan City Signs MOU with UBase to Establish Contact Center

Creating 1000+ Jobs This Year ... Busan City Signs MOU with UBase to Establish Contact Center Busan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] On the afternoon of the 26th, Busan City will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ubase, the largest contact center operator in Korea, regarding the establishment of the "Ubase Busan Contact Center."

Ubase, which considered establishing a contact center in a non-metropolitan area, ultimately chose Busan, which is attracting attention as the optimal investment location with an excellent talent pool and abundant living infrastructure.

The contact center facility was planned to prepare for the surge in call demand in the non-face-to-face era and sudden external risks such as COVID-19.

Under the business agreement, Ubase will establish a contact center in the Yeonje-gu area of Busan City, hire 1,000 new employees within this year, and subsequently consider additional employment of about 1,000 people in stages depending on business performance.

Since its establishment in 1998, Ubase has grown into the industry leader in the contact center BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) market, which is dominated by overseas global specialized companies, as a platform company.

The company currently operates contact centers with more than 16,000 seats in Seoul, Bucheon, and other locations.

In a nationwide situation of industrial land shortage, Busan City is implementing policies such as operating differentiated professional training programs for counseling staff and strengthening various administrative and financial supports for the contact industry, which is a clean industry and a job-creating business.

As of 2021, the city has cumulatively created new contact center jobs with a total of 156 companies and 20,905 seats.

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "We will continuously nurture local talent and establish a foundation for attracting investment so that the companies we attract can successfully settle in Busan, and we will focus our capabilities on making Busan a city where companies come and young people stay."
