[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, announced on the 26th that he will increase support to promote rehabilitation robot-assisted gait therapy.
On the same day, Candidate Yoon announced as the 21st promise of 'Seok-yeol's Heart-Throbbing Promise' that he will raise medical fees for gait therapy using rehabilitation robots and expand health insurance coverage.
Although there is high demand for medical rehabilitation using robots and the related infrastructure market is expanding, the high cost of equipment results in extremely low utilization by patients who actually need it. Additionally, there is no dedicated department for the rehabilitation robot industry itself, and only a very limited number of patients in hospitals are currently eligible for selective medical benefits, so rehabilitation robot-assisted gait therapy has not been activated.
Candidate Yoon stated in a press release, "We will promote gait therapy using rehabilitation robots," and "We plan to strengthen support for research and industry related to rehabilitation robots in the future."
