[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Hae-chan, strongly criticized Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party. Regarding the nickname "Yunduhwan (Yoon Seok-yeol + Chun Doo-hwan)," he directly remarked, "Whoever came up with this has truly shown foresight."

On the 25th, Lee wrote on the Democratic Party's election committee real-time communication application "Lee Jae-myung Plus," stating, "A country where individuals and power institutions abuse the state's public investigative and prosecutorial powers for themselves is called a dictatorship by the world."

He pointed out not only candidate Yoon but also his spouse, Kim Geon-hee. Lee said, "Husband Yoon Seok-yeol talks about dangerous topics outside that could lead to war and China's economic retaliation, while wife Kim Geon-hee talks inside about prosecutorial dictatorship and retaliatory surveillance."

He added, "A presidential candidate loses the qualification as the president of South Korea, which is in a ceasefire state, just by mentioning the possibility of war."

Lee also questioned, "During the Lee Myung-bak administration, which said similar things to candidate Yoon, even when North Korean bombs fell on Yeonpyeong Island, they couldn't make a sound, so to speak. However, President Kim Dae-jung, who only talked about peace and opened the door to summit talks, led the Battle of Yeonpyeong to victory. Who truly protected the lives and property of the people?"

Regarding the future presidential election outlook, he said, "After an era of reform, there are often times of reaction and regression. It seems we are now at that crossroads five years after the Candlelight Revolution."

He continued, "Will we regress to an era of dictatorship and oppression because the reform forces did not meet expectations, or will we still advance, even if slowly, toward an era of freedom and democracy? Everyone should think deeply about this."

This is not the first time former leader Lee has criticized candidate Yoon while supporting Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung through "Lee Jae-myung Plus." In a post written on the 30th of last month, he evaluated candidate Lee, saying, "We met at the turning point of a great transition. Candidate Lee overcame difficult challenges alone without allies to the extent that those watching felt sorry."

On the other hand, regarding candidate Yoon, he said, "It's hard to evaluate someone I've never met, but a candidate who describes the opposing candidate as a 'confirmed criminal' should be judged by the vote."

He added, "Considering statements about 120-hour workweeks and undermining the minimum wage system, it seems his thinking is stuck in the 1980s. If the president manages the country with the mindset that he does not have to follow even the minimum standards under the Labor Standards Act, the people who work for their livelihood will inevitably become unhappy."
