Provincial Governors' Association Donates 30 Million Won to Support Recovery from Gwangju New Apartment Collapse

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Korea Council of Governors delivered 30 million won in support funds for the recovery from the collapse accident at the Hyundai Industrial Development apartment construction site.


Song Ha-jin, Chairman of the Council of Governors (Governor of Jeonbuk Province), visited the local disaster and safety countermeasures headquarters set up at the accident site on the afternoon of the 25th, along with Secretary General Jo Myung-woo and Kang Seung-gu, Director of Planning and Coordination Office of Jeonbuk Province, to console and encourage the officials and delivered 30 million won in support funds for relief supplies for rescue workers and volunteers.


Chairman Song said, “An accident that should never have happened occurred, and I do not know how to express my condolences. We prepared the support funds with the heart of sharing the pain of the families,” adding, “I hope the missing persons will be rescued and the accident will be resolved as soon as possible.”


Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the Council of Governors for their interest and support,” and added, “Although we are facing many difficulties in searching and rescuing the missing persons due to the unprecedented collapse of a high-rise apartment under construction in the middle of the city, we will mobilize all available resources and manpower nationwide together with the Central Accident Recovery Headquarters to quickly find the missing persons and return them to their families.”
