Changwon City Invests 430 Million KRW in Fishing Vessel and Gear Reduction Project This Year Changwon City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 25th that it will accept reduction hope applications for the '2022 Coastal and Enclosed Fishery Vessel and Gear Reduction Project.'


The reduction project targets 5 vessels, focusing on coastal fisheries and enclosed fisheries. Coastal fisheries include trap and gillnet fisheries, while enclosed fisheries cover net fisheries such as gillnets and hoop nets. The project budget is 430 million KRW.


Applications for the project can be submitted to the Fisheries Division of City Hall from February 11 to 18, along with the reduction candidate selection application form.


Eligibility requires that as of the application start date, the vessel must be at least 6 years old and continuously owned under the applicant's name for the past 3 years, or the vessel must be at least 35 years old and owned under the applicant's name for the past year, with at least 60 days of fishing activity within one year.


Selected candidates will receive business closure support funds and appraisal amounts for vessels and fishing gear.


Kang Ho-kwon, head of the Fisheries Division, stated, "We plan to continue the reduction project to maintain an appropriate level of fishing vessel capacity suitable for fishery resources, and we hope it will help increase fishermen's income."
