Jeonju-si, Groundbreaking Ceremony for Innovation-dong Community Center

Construction to be completed by January next year with a total floor area of 3,363㎡, consisting of 1 basement floor and 4 above-ground floors

[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 25th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Hyeoksin-dong Community Center.

The Hyeoksin-dong Community Center construction project, promoted to improve the living conditions of residents in Jeonbuk Innovation City and provide customized administrative services, has been underway since Hyeoksin-dong was newly established in 2018. It aims to offer more comfortable administrative services to residents who had to use a cramped temporary community center building.

The construction will involve a total project cost of 9 billion KRW, including 3.2 billion KRW from national and provincial funds and 5.8 billion KRW from city funds.

The community center, scheduled to open in January next year, will be built with a total floor area of 3,363㎡ (1,019 pyeong), consisting of one basement floor and four above-ground floors.

The first floor above ground will house administrative spaces including the civil affairs office, while the second to fourth floors will be equipped with cultural spaces for Hyeoksin-dong residents, including rooms for resident autonomy programs.

Additionally, a Dadam Center space will be created, consisting of childcare areas and a family caf?, where Hyeoksin-dong residents can engage in childcare, care services, sharing, and family leisure activities.

Kim Seung-su, mayor of Jeonju, stated, “Once completed, the Hyeoksin-dong Community Center, built with the nation’s best facilities, will provide more meticulous and friendly administrative services to residents of Jeonbuk Innovation City. It will serve as a community harmony space for Hyeoksin-dong and a hub for co-prosperity with neighboring areas.” He added, “We will continue to expand facilities such as libraries, complex innovation centers, multipurpose gymnasiums, and child-friendly family spaces in Jeonbuk Innovation City to make it the best innovation city nationwide.”

Meanwhile, Jeonju City has created a recycled-material walking trail to establish a top-level innovation city nationwide. Currently, it is promoting projects including △construction of the Jeollabuk-do representative library △creation of child-friendly family spaces △construction of a complex innovation center (Kids Complex Center) △construction of a multipurpose sports center in the innovation city △creation of a fine dust reduction forest in the innovation city △construction of Jeonju Manseong Middle School.
