[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] National Assembly member Yang Hyang-ja (Gwangju Seo-gu Eul) has joined hands with the Asleep Letter Culture Foundation (Chairman Godowon) and the Blue Tree Foundation (Chairman Kim Kyung-sung) to support overseas Korean youth.
On the 25th, Representative Yang announced that she signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding for the promotion of the "Korean Youth Diaspora (K-Diaspora) Project."
The signing ceremony was attended by Representative Yang, Godowon, Chairman of the Asleep Letter Culture Foundation, and Kim Kyung-sung, Chairman of the Blue Tree Foundation.
They agreed to jointly cooperate to promote the "K-Diaspora Project" (Korean Youth Diaspora Project), which supports 2 million overseas Korean youth living in more than 190 countries worldwide to grow into global talents who will lead the future of Korea and the Korean people.
The memorandum includes the establishment of four major principles: nationwide, nonpartisan, non-religious, and non-profit, and covers ▲support for domestic invitation education programs and network building for overseas Korean youth ▲establishment and operation of a secretariat for project promotion ▲establishment of a nationwide coalition for the K-Diaspora Project.
Representative Yang promised to work hard to secure legislative activities and government and National Assembly-level support for the nurturing and support of overseas Korean youth, taking this agreement as an opportunity.
Starting with this agreement, a secretariat will be established for the joint promotion of the K-Diaspora Project. Subsequently, a joint business plan will be developed, and from this year through 2024, 2-3 week programs utilizing summer and winter vacations will be conducted. After 2025, various short-term and long-term (8-week) programs will be developed and operated.
Representative Yang emphasized, "The era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is one where a single outstanding talent supports 100,000 people," adding, "At a time when the whole world is investing all its capabilities in nurturing global science and technology talents, we must also establish a future talent nurturing and support system for 2 million overseas Korean youth."
She continued, "Starting from this signing ceremony, we will prepare support measures to foster global science and technology talents by revitalizing the creative and innovative identity of our Korean people."
