Ministry of SMEs and Startups Receives 'A' Grade in Government Performance Evaluation... Selected as a Comprehensive Excellence Institution

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups was selected as an outstanding agency in the comprehensive evaluation of institutions in the '2021 Government Work Evaluation' conducted on 45 central administrative agencies.

In the government work evaluation announced by the Office for Government Policy Coordination on the 25th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups received an excellent (A) grade in two of the four evaluation categories: 'Jobs and National Tasks' and 'Government Innovation,' and was selected as a comprehensive outstanding agency.

In the Jobs and National Tasks category, the ministry received positive evaluations for its efforts to overcome COVID-19 and restore public livelihood, including the disbursement of disaster relief funds amounting to 16.2 trillion won, legislation of loss compensation, and special guarantees for small business owners and self-employed individuals.

Additionally, the ministry was well evaluated for achievements in spreading the second venture boom, such as reaching the highest-ever venture investment amount and a significant increase in unicorn companies.

In the Government Innovation category, the proactive innovation activities promoted under Minister Kwon Chil-seung's innovation policy, which regards the Ministry of SMEs and Startups as the 'venture within the government ministries,' were highly praised.

When the ministry relocated to Sejong in July last year, it designed its working space to be innovative and creative, earning it recognition as an outstanding institution in public sector space innovation.

The program 'Samsam O O Knowledge Dialogue Room,' which conveys the know-how of senior public officials to new employees through conversations and discussions, showed high satisfaction (91.7 points) among participating staff, receiving positive evaluations in capacity development and improvements in working methods.

Minister Kwon stated, "The entire Ministry of SMEs and Startups will continue to work even harder to restore the livelihood economy."
