Gurye-gun, Year-Round Supply of Beneficial Microorganisms for Agriculture

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 25th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will supply 500 tons of six types of microorganisms produced in-house to farmers.

To expand eco-friendly agriculture and reduce livestock odor, the Useful Microorganism Cultivation Center located in Yongbang-myeon cultivates EM bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, lactic acid bacteria, yeast bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, and BM activated water.

Last year, the county supplied 414 tons of microorganisms to 3,982 farms, practicing eco-friendly agriculture by helping improve soil environment and promoting crop growth.

The method of spraying microorganisms on livestock manure to reduce odor is receiving great response from farmers.

The county is increasing the supply amount every year.

Microorganisms are supplied to residents who have received education on how to use them, and they can receive supplies by visiting the Useful Microorganism Cultivation Center every Thursday.

This year's education on the use of useful microorganisms will be held on the 10th of next month at the Yongbang-myeon Residential Agricultural Startup Support Center, with one more session planned for the second half of the year.

Since operating the cultivation and supply facility since 2011, the county plans to expand the supply of high-quality microorganisms by securing a budget of 300 million won to replace some aging facilities.

Kim Sunho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, "The demand for useful microorganisms is increasing as part of strengthening the competitiveness of eco-friendly agriculture and producing high-quality agricultural products," adding, "We hope to contribute to farmers' income by supplying better quality microorganisms through equipment replacement."
