[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Hong Joon-pyo, a member of the People Power Party, expressed displeasure toward Kim Yong-nam, former senior public relations special advisor of the People Power Party, who said that Hong's image overlaps with shamanism, saying, "It's no wonder someone like that became a close aide."
On the 24th, Hong responded this way on his communication platform "Dream of Youth" when a netizen said, "Former senior public relations special advisor Kim mocks by comparing Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate's shamanism and Hong wearing red underwear."
Earlier, Kim, on MBC Radio's "Kim Jong-bae's Focus" that morning, said, "(Gut rituals) are hardly ever admitted even if done, so fact-checking is difficult. Hong has been wearing not only red ties but also red items in places not visible for a while. So, there is a somewhat overlapping (shamanistic) image, and I don't know much about former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min," he said.
When another netizen said, "I heard that during the People Power Party's presidential primary, Hong's camp secured a video of Yoon's camp performing a curse ritual. Can you release the video now?" Hong retorted, "They did the gut rituals themselves," pointing out.
Meanwhile, Yoon's spouse Kim Geon-hee said in a phone recording released by MBC "News Desk" on the 22nd that "both Hong and former lawmaker Yoo performed gut rituals."
As the 'shamanism controversy' intensified, Hong immediately refuted on "Dream of Youth" on the 23rd, saying, "It's scary to think what will happen if lies are told so naturally. I have never performed gut rituals in my life, and I do not believe in shamanism." Former lawmaker Yoo also posted on his Facebook on the 23rd, clearly stating, "All parts about me in Kim's recording are false fabrications."
