[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG Household & Health Care has embarked on developing a tattoo printer under 10 cm in size, aiming for a North American market launch in the fourth quarter of this year.
LG Household & Health Care announced on the 25th that starting from the fourth quarter of this year, it plans to sell ‘Printly’ through the distribution channels of the U.S. haircare brand ‘Arctic Fox,’ which it acquired last year. Subsequently, the product will be introduced sequentially in Korea and sales will be expanded through various channels.
‘Printly’ uses vegan ink for skin makeup developed in-house by LG Household & Health Care’s color research lab. The distance between the skin and the device nozzle is optimized to enable stable ink ejection, allowing for precise printing of detailed designs. Additionally, sensors that detect the skin surface more delicately are applied, enabling users to experience the sensation of a real tattoo.
An LG Household & Health Care official said, “Targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), who freely express themselves in unique ways, we developed the mini tattoo printer by combining LG Household & Health Care’s long-accumulated cosmetics know-how and technological capabilities. We expect it to be spotlighted as a fashion and beauty item that can be used diversely in daily life.”
Going forward, LG Household & Health Care plans to gradually expand the usability of ‘Printly’ by linking it with cosmetics it has developed independently, such as primers and cleansers.
