[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] 11st announced on the 25th that it will utilize the metaverse in its 7-week training program for new developers.

11st stated, "This year's training program will be conducted through a combination of online and offline education," adding, "We maximized the effectiveness of mission tasks requiring collaboration by using the metaverse."

Since the 7th of this month, 11st has been conducting the '2022 New Developer Competency Development Course (Developer's Beginning course)' for 25 new members in developer roles. The full-day, 8-hour-a-day program has been extended from last year's 6 weeks (200 hours) to 7 weeks, totaling 264 hours, and will run until the 25th of next month.

This year's training combines face-to-face and remote learning. To enhance understanding of the curriculum, some sessions such as orientation and project sharing are held in person at 11st's headquarters training center, while most of the courses are delivered via online live lectures. The training is operated by 'Fast Campus,' a professional academy specializing in practical education.

For the first time this year, 11st incorporated the metaverse platform (Gather Town) into the training program. Aligned with 11st's developer organizational culture that highly values collaboration, during the training period, participants can meet in the metaverse space to discuss and share their programming screens while working on missions with partners.

The 11st developer training space within the metaverse is divided into different rooms: a project room where all participants can attend, mission rooms for group discussions, and break rooms for rest, allowing participants to engage in activities in the desired space as needed. Information about the project and pre-learning materials for each course can also be accessed here.

11st explained, "Building trust and bonds among new members through the training process is important. Although the physical spaces are separated in online education, the shared experiences in the same space and activities within the metaverse can foster bonds among participants and a sense of belonging to the organization."

While preparing this year's program, 11st met with last year's new developers to identify areas for improvement and ways to enhance educational effectiveness. The time allocated for the 'mission and project execution' segment, which previous participants rated as the most effective, was expanded, and the metaverse platform was introduced to facilitate mission execution. The program is designed as a project-centered course, conducting modular projects such as the '11st Hackathon' to develop the ability to apply and utilize learned content.

Kim Ji-seung, CTO of 11st, said, "Our top priority is to create an environment where new developers can quickly adapt to practical work at 11st and confidently demonstrate their capabilities. We will provide full support to nurture outstanding developers who can grow into experts together with 11st."

In addition to the 264-hour regular course, 11st offers free access to about 50 online classes provided by 'Fast Campus,' enabling new employees to learn various practical courses necessary not only for development skills but also for other essential job competencies. Meanwhile, 11st is continuously recruiting developers in various fields in line with the growth of e-commerce.
