[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Park Gun, a trot singer and former special forces soldier, confessed that he regrets enlisting at the age of 20.
On the MBN variety show 'Sin Gwa Han Pan' aired on the 23rd, Park Gun appeared as a guest.
On that day, MC Kim Gu-ra addressed Park Gun, saying, "You said you love both the special forces and the military, but you also mentioned that the thing you regret most among the choices you made at 20 is related to the military."
In response, Park Gun revealed that he regrets enlisting in the special forces. He explained the reason for his regret: "When I was 15, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was told she wouldn't live more than seven years. But since I was young, she seemed to have a strong will to live. She passed away when I was 22, so she lived for the full seven years," he shared.
He continued, "My mother always tried to show a bright side, so I had forgotten the fact that she was terminally ill. Looking back now, I think, 'If only I had joined the military two years later.' The special forces are professional soldiers, but you have to live inside the base for two years, so you can't freely go outside. Because of that, I couldn't see my mother. If I hadn't joined the military, I could have worked in a factory or lived a social life for two years and always been able to see my mother. That's why I regret joining the military at 20."
Meanwhile, Park Gun named Jang Yoon-jung as his ideal type, which embarrassed MC Do Kyung-wan. Park Gun said, "I first met her as a contestant and judge on a competition program, and I was attracted when she said she would buy me meat the first time I appeared on the show. As everyone knows, Jang Yoon-jung is like a strong woman with charisma."
In response, Do Kyung-wan said, "During our dating days, Jang Yoon-jung bought me meals nine times. Even when I tried to pay, she would hold my arm tightly and not let me. I asked her, 'Since I have eaten nine meals, please let me buy one,' and she said, 'Okay, buy it.' Paying with my own money felt like receiving a blessing."
However, Park Gun said, "My ideal type has recently changed," adding, "A woman like Do Kyung-wan hyung." Then Do Kyung-wan joked, "So you want to come into my house? Should I give you the password?" which made everyone laugh. Park Gun revealed that he was attracted to Do Kyung-wan’s supportive attitude toward Jang Yoon-jung.
Also, Park Gun said, "Jang Yoon-jung promised to transfer her hair loss treatment voucher to me," explaining, "Since I have very little hair, she said, 'I also lost hair after giving birth and have a prepaid treatment voucher, so I will give it to you.'" Jang Yoon-jung had registered for hair loss treatment due to postpartum symptoms and tried to transfer the voucher to Park Gun. However, the transfer failed due to a policy that prohibits voucher transfers.
Park Gun expressed gratitude, saying, "Since the transfer was not allowed, she gave me money to buy a delicious meal instead. She gave me 350,000 won for one meal," and "It was a really difficult time, so I was very thankful."
