Shinhan Card Transforms into 'Shinhan Play'... Fortune Users Triple Increase

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] The Shinhan Card Shinhan Play application (app) is showing visible achievements not only in credit card services but also in various non-financial content.


Shinhan Card announced on the 25th that the number of users of the fortune-telling service on the Shinhan Play app exceeded 10,000 per day on average in January, reaching 170,000 by the 23rd. At this rate, it is expected to surpass 200,000 users for January. This figure is nearly three times the average monthly users of 70,000 for the fortune-telling service last year.


The non-fungible token (NFT) service launched earlier this month also recorded a cumulative issuance of about 20,000 by the 23rd, indicating that the specialized service focused on Generation Z has been established. The 'Discover' life content, added during the Shinhan Play app revamp last year, continues to gain popularity. As of December last year, the monthly active users (MAU) of Discover exceeded 470,000. In particular, the series of golf lessons by professional golfer Kim Mi-hyun has received a positive response.


Yoo Tae-hyun, Senior Executive Director of Shinhan Card's Digital First Division, said, "The popularity of the fortune-telling and NFT services among customers is evidence that the rapid adoption of digital innovation technologies and data-based customized non-financial content for each customer are important in the future lifestyle finance platform number one strategy," adding, "We plan to continuously enhance financial technology content such as real estate and stocks according to customer consumption patterns."
