[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics' portable screen 'The Freestyle' is consecutively achieving 'sold out' records in pre-orders targeting major markets worldwide, including South Korea, the United States, and Europe.


According to Samsung Electronics on the 25th, The Freestyle, first unveiled at CES 2022, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, earlier this year, has sold over 10,000 units through sequential pre-orders starting from North America on the 4th, followed by South Korea, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Europe.


In North America, the initial stock of about 4,000 units was sold out in less than a week, and encouraged by additional sales requests from customers, the second round of pre-orders began on the 18th, achieving sales of over approximately 6,500 units by last weekend. In Europe, pre-orders started on the 17th and sold out more than 1,000 units within a day.


In South Korea, pre-orders began on the 11th, and the first batch of 1,000 units was sold out within a day. On Samsung.com’s official website, 100 units were sold within 45 minutes, and on various open markets such as 11st and Musinsa, the product continued a sold-out streak within hours of launch. The second round of pre-orders, which started on the 12th, was completely sold out by the 19th, resulting in sales of about 2,000 units in South Korea alone.


The Freestyle is a portable screen capable of 180-degree rotation, allowing users to project a screen up to 100 inches in size on walls, ceilings, floors, or any desired space. Weighing 830g, it is lightweight and designed to fit in one hand, offering high portability. It can be used outdoors, such as at campsites, by connecting an external battery (50W/20V) without needing a power plug. The Freestyle features auto keystone, auto leveling, and auto focusing functions that automatically adjust the screen to a 16:9 aspect ratio as soon as it is powered on.


Seong Il-gyeong, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business Division, said, "The Freestyle was a product that attracted significant attention from MZ generation visitors at CES 2022," adding, "We will continue to introduce innovative products that are easy to use and provide enjoyment."
