[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has introduced and standardized Gyeonggi-do symbols on all facilities related to fire hydrants.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 25th that it recently produced a standard design for fire hydrant valves (valves connected to water pipes that regulate water flow), following no-parking signs for fire water facilities and fire hydrant guards.
This fire hydrant valve features the 119 emblem and Gyeonggi-do’s representative symbols, with reflective and colored paint applied.
Until now, the fire hydrant valves had the same design as residential water supply valves, making identification difficult.
Previously, in October last year, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters developed a unified design for fire hydrant guards in the Gyeonggi area, which had been operated with various designs and colors, and in December, it introduced the nation’s first standard design for no-parking signs around fire water facilities such as fire hydrants.
This year, the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters plans to replace and repaint standard designs for 4,379 fire hydrant signs, and will apply the design when installing new or replacement fire hydrant valves.
Cho Chang-rae, head of the Disaster Response Division at the Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters, emphasized, "It is very meaningful that we completed three types of standard designs related to fire hydrants using local government representative symbols in collaboration with local governments for the first time nationwide."
