"If you approve just because you're close, making money is no big deal"

[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, expressed his frustration regarding the 'Daejang-dong development preferential treatment' allegations, saying, "I am so wronged that I feel like vomiting blood. Does this even make sense?"
On the 24th, during a speech held at Yangpyeong Raon Madang, Lee said, "After fighting for years and tenaciously securing the interests of Seongnam citizens, the group that tried to snatch it away criticizes me, saying 'Why didn't you take it all?'" and added, "I am so wronged that I really feel like vomiting blood." He then directly targeted the People Power Party, which raised the preferential treatment allegations, saying, "Those people are framing me."
He likened the People Power Party to "bandits" and "thieves," saying, "A few servants in the village took back the stolen goods from the bandits, but their hands were too small to take everything. The thieves disguised themselves and appeared, saying, 'They left that behind. One servant took a piece. Lee Jae-myung is a bad guy.'
During an earlier campaign in Icheon, Lee also turned his criticism toward the People Power Party, saying, "People Power Party members, even a parasite has some shame. Who shared the illicit development profits? Why criticize me for not recovering all the (development profits)? The People Power Party blocked the recovery."
He also mentioned that in 2009, Busan Savings Bank facilitated a large loan to private developers of Daejang-dong, stating, "Private developers borrowed money from Busan Savings Bank to buy land in Daejang-dong, which was being developed by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) at the time. Were they reckless or crazy? No. They knew in advance that LH would give up the development. The power to make LH give up was held by the People Power Party."

Furthermore, during the Yangpyeong campaign, Lee continued to recall allegations related to the family of People Power Party candidate Yoon Seok-youl, saying, "Is this the Gongheung district?" and "I mention this because it is related to Gongheung district."
The Democratic Party alleges that there were various preferential treatments during the development of Gongheung-ri in Yangpyeong County, an area where LH had planned to build national rental housing but gave up, and the company owned by Yoon's family developed it.
He claimed, "Just because they are close, if they approve development for my nephew or mother-in-law, it's not just about making money," and added, "LH canceled a perfectly fine project for no reason, and someone bought the land and made hundreds of billions of won by selling it."
