[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 24th that it will invest a total of 2.5 billion KRW this year to promote eco-friendly agriculture.
While the consumption of eco-friendly agricultural products is increasing, profitability remains relatively low compared to the effort and production costs invested in farming. Gimhae City decided to provide various supports and help stabilize production to overcome these difficulties.
The city will implement 16 support projects targeting 434 eco-friendly agricultural product farming households. The four key focus areas are support for eco-friendly organic materials with 1.3 billion KRW, establishment of eco-friendly agricultural production infrastructure with 800 million KRW, raising awareness of eco-friendly agriculture with 300 million KRW, and revitalizing the distribution of eco-friendly agricultural products with 200 million KRW.
Major projects include support for soil conditioners and organic fertilizers to foster sustainable eco-friendly agriculture, support for eco-friendly certification inspection fees to establish a carbon reduction-type eco-friendly organic agriculture foundation, and operation of eco-friendly rice production complexes.
Shin Sung-gi, Director of Agricultural Policy, said, “As social interest in health and the environment increases, we will focus on promoting eco-friendly agriculture to expand safe food for citizens' health.”
