[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] An animal abuse incident involving placing food on sticky glue to catch cats has sparked outrage in Ulsan.
The animal rights organization 'CARE' posted on their official Instagram on the 23rd, stating, "We are looking for the abuser who caught a kitten with sticky glue."
CARE explained, "This incident occurred around 9 PM in the basement of an apartment in Ulsan," adding, "There was a report that an abuser was using sticky glue with treats that cats like to catch stray cats, and a kitten got stuck and couldn't move."
They continued, "Fortunately, with the help of the person who first posted and cat moms, the kitten is now hospitalized," but added, "The problem is that the kitten's mother cat and other kittens are still in that basement."
CARE also stated, "We installed banners with residents to raise awareness of the abuse and reported it to the police." Under the current Animal Protection Act, anyone who injures an animal using tools is prohibited.
CARE said, "We are waiting for tips from anyone who knows the identity of the abuser trying to catch cats with sticky glue," and claimed, "They are still enjoying posting videos of harming cats in various ways."
They added, "Recently, the judiciary's awareness of abusing stray cats has increased. Severe punishment can be imposed for violating the Animal Protection Act, and even posting such abuse videos can lead to punishment," urging, "If you know the identity of these abusers, please report to CARE."

Meanwhile, this is not the first case of attempting to injure animals by placing harmful objects in their food. On the 16th, a sausage with a fishing hook was found on a pet-only walking trail in Incheon, causing controversy.
According to the informant who first found the sausage, it was hidden among fallen leaves, making it difficult to spot with the naked eye. The informant expressed concern, saying, "It's horrifying to think a dog might have eaten this," and questioned, "It was tied to a tree in a dog park where many dogs walk, so it doesn't seem like it was accidentally discarded."
Additionally, between February and March last year, six dead stray cats were found in bulk in the underground parking lot of an apartment in Seoul. Citizens who discovered them claimed, "There was foam and blood around the cats' mouths," and alleged that someone had poisoned the cat food containers.
Afterward, the police entrusted the necropsy of the cat bodies to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, which revealed that the cats were poisoned with carbofuran, a type of pesticide. The culprit had sprayed pesticide on the cat food and placed it in the food containers, poisoning the cats.
The police analyzed CCTV footage near the food containers and arrested Mr. A, who killed the cats. Mr. A admitted to the crime during the investigation, stating, "My wife is ill, and the cats' crying at night was too loud, so I committed the act."
