[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City and SK Telecom are joining forces to support sports activities for people with disabilities and youth.
On the 24th, both parties signed a 'Sports Support Business Agreement' at Incheon City Hall, agreeing to actively cooperate in various sports revitalization programs and campaign activities within the Incheon area.
SKT will sponsor athletes in disability sports affiliated with Incheon City to ensure smooth training and participation in competitions, while Incheon City will create an environment where its athletes can perform at their best.
SKT also decided to officially sponsor the 'Middle Star League' organized by the citizen club Incheon United FC.
The Middle Star League is the nation's top pure amateur middle school soccer tournament in which all middle schools in Incheon can participate. It is linked to educational projects addressing youth issues such as school violence and game addiction, and is expected to contribute to SKT's social contribution activities.
Additionally, SKT will support sports experiences for children and underprivileged groups in the region through its lifestyle basketball club, and Incheon City will cooperate by supporting sports infrastructure such as gymnasium rentals to help establish the SKT lifestyle basketball club.
Although the SK Wyverns baseball team, based in Incheon, disappeared into memories last February, SKT plans to continue its connection with Incheon through various sports support activities for Incheon citizens via this business agreement with Incheon City.
Incheon City also plans to actively support local sports infrastructure for corporate social contribution activities and encourage companies' sharing management.
An Incheon City official stated, "As corporate social contribution activities are recognized as core activities of corporate management, more companies are participating to promote local community development and strengthen bonds," adding, "We will continue to promote public interest-linked marketing strategic projects for the development of local sports culture through collaboration with companies in various sports fields."
