[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Korean National Police University announced the schedule for the "2023 72nd Police Officer Candidate Selection Examination" on the 24th.

The total number of recruits is 50, consisting of 40 general candidates, 5 tax accounting candidates, and 5 cyber candidates. Applications will be accepted from May 27 to June 6, the written exam will be held on July 30, and the final successful candidates will be announced on December 15.

Starting from this Police Officer Candidate Selection Examination, all subjects will be multiple-choice (5 subjects, 40 questions each), and the Korean history requirement will be replaced by a certification system. The weighting of each subject was calculated considering the relevance to each of the three selection fields. For general candidates, Criminal Law and Police Science each account for 30%, Constitutional Law and Criminology each 15%, and elective subjects 10%. For tax accounting, Criminal Law is 30%, Introduction to Tax Law and Accounting each 20%, Constitutional Law and elective subjects each 15%. For cyber candidates, Criminal Law is 30%, System Security and Information Protection Theory each 20%, Constitutional Law and elective subjects each 15%.

The final successful candidates of the Police Officer Candidate Selection Examination will complete a one-year training course at the Korean National Police University and then be appointed as lieutenants to work in various fields of public safety.
