Deployment of 1,490 Network Experts... Operation of 24-Hour Monitoring and Emergency Recovery System
Facility Inspections Completed in Preparation for Increased Check-in Calls and Video Calls
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced that it will implement special measures to provide stable communication services to customers during the Lunar New Year holiday and will enter a ‘Focused Management of Wired and Wireless Networks’ from the 24th until February 2nd.
During the focused management period of wired and wireless networks, KT will deploy an average of 1,490 network experts daily. A 24-hour intensive monitoring and emergency recovery system will also be operated.
KT has already completed quality inspections and capacity expansions of communication infrastructure in over 1,000 locations nationwide where crowds gather, including KTX stations expected to experience increased traffic during the holiday, airports, shopping centers, and major downtown areas.
To prepare for the increase in greeting calls and video calls due to non-face-to-face meetings amid COVID-19 during the holiday period, KT has completed inspections of related facilities. Real-time traffic from Olleh TV and online video services (OTT) will be closely monitored, and emergency recovery systems will respond promptly in case of any emergencies.
Additionally, to counter cyberattacks such as smishing texts impersonating Lunar New Year gift deliveries and greeting messages during the holiday period, KT has pre-sent the government’s ‘Lunar New Year Voice Phishing and Smishing Warning’ text messages to subscribers. KT plans to strengthen preemptive blocking measures and real-time monitoring to prevent any damages.
A KT official stated, "As more customers enjoy the holiday through communication services in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, KT will do its best to provide stable communication services."
