[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Raons, a healthcare R&D specialized company based on ICT convergence technology, announced on the 24th that it has selected Hana Financial Investment as the lead manager for its KOSDAQ listing. Raons plans to focus investments on expanding its semiconductor business and digital healthcare business with the goal of going public in 2023.
Since its establishment in 2001, Raons has long been engaged in the semiconductor components business and has expanded its digital healthcare business based on the accumulated ICT manufacturing technology. Additionally, by adding a natural bio-material business, it has established a sustainable management environment.
One of Raons’ main pipelines, the ‘Smart Glass,’ is a walking support device necessary for patients’ outdoor activities that enables walking without external assistance. It collects and analyzes walking patterns and provides visual patterns to ‘improve walking function.’ The ‘Smart Glass’ has been recognized for its safety and functionality in the smart glasses category of walking support assistive devices by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. It is rapidly emerging as a dark horse in the smart medical device field. The company is currently promoting supply to overseas global distribution companies.
The ‘Smart Glass’ is a wearable device that supports walking necessary for patients’ outdoor activities, enabling walking without external help. The device’s camera system uploads and collects data on the forward road environment and detected information to hardware and servers for analysis, and voice guidance can be heard through a bone conduction speaker. Additionally, the glass’s display screen allows for navigation, speed checking, and message confirmation. This helps diagnose Parkinson’s disease patients, who suffer from walking disabilities due to damaged dopamine nerve cells, and assists in dementia diagnosis by analyzing subtle eye tremors.
Shin Sang-yong, CEO of Raons, said, “We will do our best to achieve a successful IPO with Hana Financial Investment, using our core pipeline business, ‘Smart Glass,’ as a stepping stone,” adding, “If the technology-specialized listing is successfully completed, we will expand our business area to Parkinson’s disease and dementia diagnostic solutions, establishing ourselves as a pioneer in the smart medical assistive device field.”
