Labest Sales Surge Rapidly Since COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] Lotte Foods announced on the 24th that it has launched two types of Labeste Bars & Cones and three types of Labeste Pints, reinterpreting the 'Coffee Float' enjoyed at coffee shops.
Due to social distancing caused by COVID-19, the use of cafes and dessert specialty stores has been restricted, increasing demand for premium desserts that can be enjoyed at home. As a result, the premium ice cream market is also growing. According to Lotte Foods, Labeste's sales increased by more than 60% compared to the previous year. The sales growth rate in 2020 was similar.
The new product, 'Labeste Coffee Float,' is a premium ice cream modeled after the high-end dessert found only at coffee shops. The Coffee Float, combining coffee and the meaning of 'to float' or 'to rise,' is coffee topped with ice cream or whipped cream, such as espresso with ice cream on top. This has been reinterpreted as ice cream and released in two types: bar and cone. The pint products consist of Choco Brownie, Cheese Blueberry, and Cookie Salty Caramel.
