[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Kim Eun-hye, the Public Relations Director of the People Power Party's Election Countermeasures Headquarters, appeared on a variety show and compared Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Party, to a "sports car," prompting the People Party to retort that "Yoon Seok-youl, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is a manual old-fashioned truck."
On the 23rd, Yoon Young-hee, the deputy spokesperson of the People Party, issued a statement saying, "It seems necessary to correct the inappropriate analogy comparing presidential candidates to cars," adding, "Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, is a 'recall vehicle not for sale,' Yoon Seok-youl is a 'manual old-fashioned truck,' and Ahn Cheol-soo is an 'autonomous electric car.'"
Earlier, on the 23rd, Director Kim appeared on the online video service (OTT) Coupang Play's SNL Korea segment "The Reporter Goes," where she compared the presidential candidates to vehicles, describing Yoon as an "amphibious tank," Lee as a "truck," and Ahn as a "sports car."
Regarding the amphibious tank, Director Kim praised Yoon by saying, "Even though it looks scary and intimidating, it can protect me by firing its cannon."
About comparing Ahn to a sports car, Director Kim said, "It looked very fast." She added, "If it crashes and flips over once, it cannot get back up." This is interpreted as a reference to the tense situation between the People Power Party and Ahn over the issue of opposition unity, with Ahn showing support ratings in the 10% range.
The reason for comparing Lee to a truck was not mentioned in the broadcast.
Director Kim described Lee Jun-seok, the leader of the People Power Party, as having a "straightforward style," likening him to a "bicycle or electric car."
