According to the police and fire department on the 23rd, at around 12:05 PM, a sinkhole measuring 3 meters wide, 2 meters long, and 1 meter deep occurred on a road near Jongno 5-ga Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul. There were no traffic accidents or casualties caused by this incident.

The Seoul Northern Road Office and the police are controlling one of the two lanes from Dongdaemun Station toward Jongno 5-ga. The Seoul city government estimates that the sinkhole was caused by ground subsidence due to a burst water pipe and is investigating the exact cause. Restoration work is scheduled to begin around 6 PM on the same day.
